BUYER’S GUIDE
Until a year ago Switzerland was not an option for buy-to-let purchasers - but a change in the law means it is poised to become a key European market for adventurous investors. Costs vary from canton to canton. Normally the state taxes -transfer taxes and the legal fees are calculated within the selling price, between 0.2 and approx. 3.0 %. There will be some differences depending on use of state or privately hired notaries and which canton you are in, approximately 0.5-1%, but you can calculate on time spent at CHF250-500 per hour. There are no strict rules as to who pays the costs, usually they are split between vendor and buyer.
