Podere La Fontana, is a 17th century stone farmhouse with two wings added in the 19th century. The whole property has been beautifully and tastefully restored with original materials.
The house stands on a hill looking across to the medieval town of Orvieto, with its stunning cathedral. From its windows and terraces it has wide panoramas, of the Tiber Valley and Monte Peglia dominating the surrounding vineyards and farmland.
The property includes a second house, a short distance away, near to the main entrance gate. It was recently built (2002) entirely in keeping with the main house, and was created as a gate-house and dwelling for the resident caretaker and land-manager who looks after the property in the owner's absence and manages the production of the olive oil and wine. The caretaker currently is in charge of ensuring the smooth running of all the above. He could continue to do this, or not, according to the wishes of the purchaser.

conveniently and strategically situated at 90 minutes from Rome Airport, 13 minutes from the mainline railway station (trains to Rome in 1 hour; to Florence in 1 hour 40 minutes), and a similar distance from the exit on the main A1 Rome-Milan Motorway.
Orvieto is a very strategic place and connections from Podere La Fontana are excellent. Shops, supermarket, post office and mainline railway-station are only 7 km away; main Rome-Florence motorway exit at 8 km. Orvieto itself is a beautiful and important cultural centre. Many of Italy's most historic cities are close by- Siena (75 minutes), Perugia and Assisi (1 hour), Viterbo (1 hour). Spoleto (1 hour), and Lake Bolsena (30 minutes).
